The Manchester Arena attack nearly destroyed her。 Love and courage saved her。

Freya Lewis was just three metres away from the terrorist who detonated the bomb at the Manchester arena on the night of 22nd May 2017。

Her best friend Nell was tragically killed, but Freya - thrown forwards by the blast - somehow survived。 She suffered 29 separate injuries, was in a coma for five days, and wheelchair-bound for three months。

Yet just 12 months later, she was on her feet, running the Junior Great Manchester Run and raising £60,000 for the hospital that saved her。 From her darkest moment, she found the determination to live life to the fullest, for herself, and for those who lost their lives。

This is Freya's courageous story。 But it is also the story of the amazing community that surrounded her, uplifted her, and ultimately saved her life。

What Makes Us Stronger is a testament to the power of hope and positivity。

Profoundly moving。 Very very rare for me to read a book in one sitting but this was unputdownable。 My heart breaks for Freya, so young to suffer such loss and atrocity。 A very very inspirational young lady and it was an honour to read her story。 I cried and I laughed but what an incredible book。

Wow。 I’m not really sure how I can put into words how I felt about reading this book。 It was the most inspirational book I have ever read。 Full of emotion, bravery and compassion。 An awful act of terror that shocked and shattered the lives of so many people, Freya Lewis is extremely strong to have written a book from experiencing what happened, the aftermath, how it affected/injured her physically and also mentally。It was so inspiring to read from the start of the attack of how she thought she w Wow。 I’m not really sure how I can put into words how I felt about reading this book。 It was the most inspirational book I have ever read。 Full of emotion, bravery and compassion。 An awful act of terror that shocked and shattered the lives of so many people, Freya Lewis is extremely strong to have written a book from experiencing what happened, the aftermath, how it affected/injured her physically and also mentally。It was so inspiring to read from the start of the attack of how she thought she would not survive to fighting through every step to become stronger。 The determination she showed her family, emergency services and friends。 I thought it was wonderful how she raised money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital。 She pushed herself through all the challenges that came her way。 Learning to walk again to then running and raising money in the process。 Absolutely incredible。It was so sad to read how she had become self conscious of how she looked, after what felt like endless amounts of surgery for her, her body had changed so much。 Freya Lewis - you wear those scars and be proud。 You are such a beautiful and strong young woman。What happened that night was absolutely devastating and so heartbreaking for many people。 It was a very difficult book to read but uplifting and inspirational at the same time。 The love and support, how everyone just came together。 Wonderful。 🐝 。。。more

This is a great book。 For young Freya and what she went through and still does go through breaks her heart。 One of my favourite parts was when she went to do the race because it showed how coraegous she is despite everything。5/5, had me gripped the whole time!!

No one should ever have to experience what Freya has gone through since May 22nd, 2017 - the worst of humanity。 Freya describes every part of her recovery from both her injuries and the loss of her best friend that night。 She shows true grit and determination to promote love over hate and is so inspiring。 This book will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I am amazed at what Freya has already accomplished in the years since the attack, and her willingness to continue her best friends l No one should ever have to experience what Freya has gone through since May 22nd, 2017 - the worst of humanity。 Freya describes every part of her recovery from both her injuries and the loss of her best friend that night。 She shows true grit and determination to promote love over hate and is so inspiring。 This book will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I am amazed at what Freya has already accomplished in the years since the attack, and her willingness to continue her best friends legacy。 。。。more

All I can say is wow! This book was heartbreaking but so incredibly inspiring。 I had originally seen Freya on Instagram, and heard her name on tv about a book。 I automatically knew I had to get my hands on it! As you can see, I read it in one day。 I could not put it down。 Hearing her story, her struggles and going on her journey through her writing was heart wrenching。 The event affected me in huge ways mentally, and knowing I wasn’t completely alone in that was super comforting。 All I wanted to All I can say is wow! This book was incredible。 Freya is the most courageous girl and what she went through is just horrific。 I have suffered with loss in the past and ‘What makes us stronger’ has given me a whole new perspective on life after grief and I know that Nell would be so proud of her。

Very inspirational read。 Very well-written, clear, with a good balance between the terror of the attack and its aftermath, and the kindness and bravery of Freya and people around her。 I was in MCR around the time of the attack but I didn't know much about it。 This book gives me lots of insights。 The details brought me back to that horrible night。 Sometimes I cried a bit when reading because it was so painful for Freya to lose her friend。 But the courage and kindness of Freya's family and the med Very inspirational read。 Very well-written, clear, with a good balance between the terror of the attack and its aftermath, and the kindness and bravery of Freya and people around her。 I was in MCR around the time of the attack but I didn't know much about it。 This book gives me lots of insights。 The details brought me back to that horrible night。 Sometimes I cried a bit when reading because it was so painful for Freya to lose her friend。 But the courage and kindness of Freya's family and the medical staffs and that couple who was there with Freya are so warm to read。This book is for whoever wants to know more about the attack, and how the individuals and the city bounce back。 Also, as an 1D fan, this book shows many acts of kindness from Harry and Louis, which are so nice to read。 Don't miss it if you also adore the boys。 。。。more
